OTTAWA, Canada, May 24, 2006 - XStream Engineering, a subsidiary of XStream Software Inc., today announced the official release of RapidCorrelator v1.0 , an advanced Image Correlation and Deformation Analysis technology . This user-friendly software tool offers full-field, multi-scale image correlation analysis for non-destructive, non-contact deformation, strain measurement and testing. It also provides innovative multimedia annotation capabilities. The RapidCorrelator technology is the result of a unique partnership and collaboration between XStream Engineering , Aum Capital Corp . (a private equity firm), and Clipius Technologies Inc . (a technology think tank).
RapidCorrelator streamlines the process of Image Correlation, which is a technique based on surface analysis methods that monitor and identify changes in a pattern applied to the surface of the objects under observation as well as presenting analytical results in a rich visual form. Digital images can be sourced from cameras, SEM, and/or AFM (macro to nano-scale). RapidCorrelator analyzes, interprets and depicts relationships and effects between reference and deformed images put under mechanical pressures. The system automatically calculates precise measurements of surface deformation, displacement, gradient levels, and strain. Generated data results are presented in prefabricated charts, which are exportable to Microsoft Excel format. In addition, calculated data values can be generated as applied analysis (visual contour maps) in order to graphically illustrate and reveal displacements, strains, etc. RapidCorrelator also includes a built-in image player, which facilitates animated or looping playback of image deformations for effective visual communication of analytical results. During playback, the user can see the progression of the deformations from one image to the next and view the dynamics of the loads, displacements, etc.
RapidCorrelator's advanced annotation capabilities provide a layer of versatility not available in other software products of its kind. The rich-media suite of drag-and-drop objects, drawing tools, and other features enables the user to augment images and analysis with text, audio, video, graphics, shapes, interactive buttons, links, and more. Annotations are extremely useful for enhancing the presentation of the images and explaining/highlighting different artifacts within the analytical results.
