Enhanced Flash™ Support Included in RapidBuilder® v3.0
Many
more RapidBuilder objects and properties now supported
in ShockWave Flash (SWF).
OTTAWA, Canada, January 28, 2002 - With
the release of RapidBuilder v3.0, XStream Software
has greatly increased the level of Flash support
available in its RapidBuilder simulation-authoring
software. A whole series of additional RapidBuilder objects
and properties (which were not previously supported in Flash)
may now be exported to the widely used Flash format.
RapidBuilder v3.0 enables developers
to save any simulation (.RBX) file or project (.RPR) file
in Flash (SWF) format. Generated Flash (SWF)
files may be played using the Macromedia Flash Player available
from Macromedia's web site (www.macromedia.com)
or using the Flash Plug-in (which is already built-in
within most web browsers today).
Highlights of the Enhanced Flash Support in RapidBuilder
v3.0 :
-
Additional Objects/Properties Supported in Flash -
All of RapidBuilder's Edit, Button,
and Draw objects (with the exceptions of the Rotated
Text Field and the Sound Track Selector)
are now supported in Flash. (This is a significant
increase from RapidBuilder v2.2, in which only
a subset of the Edit object and most of the Draw objects
were supported in Flash). Many more object properties
and events are also now supported in Flash.
-
Frame Selection - For any.RBX or.RPR file,
the developer may choose to export all frames or a selected
range of frames to Flash format.
-
Area Selection - For an.RBX or.RPR file containing
captured screen areas, the developer may specify how
the captured screen areas will be displayed in the generated Flash file:
on a solid screen background or within a fitted window.
-
Object Selection - For any.RBX or.RPR file,
the developer may choose which types of Edit, Button,
and Draw objects contained in the file will be
exported to Flash format.
-
Publish HTML - When exporting an.RBX or.RPR
file to Flash format, the developer may specify
that an associated HTML file is automatically created
in the same directory as the generated Flash (SWF)
file. This HTML file will contain code for launching
the.SWF file.
-
Video Files with Sound - All AVI,.MOV,.MPEG,
and.MPG video files (with sound) contained in an.RBX
or.RPR file may be exported to Flash format.
-
Flash File Tracking in RapidManager v2.0 - RapidManager
v2.0, the back-end (SQL Server-based, Oracle-based,
or MS Access-based) administrative management tool
included with both RapidBuilder and RapidExam,
now includes the capability of tracking Flash (.SWF)
files in addition to tracking RapidBuilder project
(.RPR) files and RapidExam exam (.EXM and.XML)
files. Bookmarking and progress tracking are supported
for Flash files in the same way as.RPR files.
"The support for Flash has
consistently been one of the most popular features of RapidBuilder",
says Sunil

the level of Flash support in RapidBuilder has
obviously been a key priority, both for us and our clients."
"The level of Flash support has
been increased with the goal of achieving RapidBuilder -to- Flash conversions
that are as effective and seamless as possible," adds Mahendra
K. Agrawal, XStream's Vice President of Technology. "We
are anxiously awaiting feedback from clients."
About XStream
XStream Software is an innovator in the
computer simulation, eLearning, and knowledge management
domains. Its first two products, RapidBuilder® and RapidExam™,
are already in use by a growing base of clients. RapidBuilder
captures real-time interactions between users and OEM software
applications to create tutorials, product demos, and courseware
with minimum time and effort. A powerful compression technology,
paired with a multimedia edit suite, allows customers to
create high-end, interactive demos and learning tools in
minimal time. RapidExam then enables customers to create
equally fast and feature-rich competency and/or certification
exams - a perfect way to close the training loop. LGP Builder™ is
our Live Guided Practice (LGP) technology that enables developers
to create and provide guidance to users in real-time within
the 'live' applications they are using. Users are provided
step-by-step multi-language instructions (in audio or text
format) along with animated laser pointers that indicate
to the user where they need to perform actions within the
'live' applications they are using.
