Software Launches RapidBuilder® v3.1 and RapidBuilder® v3.1
Deluxe
New
versions of RapidBuilder technology incorporate highly
anticipated features, including Print Functionality, Exporting
to Word, SCORM v1.1 Support, and more.
OTTAWA, Canada, February 23,
2004 - XStream Software Inc.,
the leading provider of today's unmatched E-learning, Authoring,
and Administration/Tracking technologies, has released RapidBuilder
v3.1 and RapidBuilder v3.1 Deluxe, the latest
versions of XStream's Simulation and Course Authoring technology.
Using a continuous "pixel-based" desktop capturing technique,
a 100% programming-free drag-and-drop edit suite, and an
unprecedented variety of multimedia elements, properties,
and options, RapidBuilder enables developers to
create Fully Interactive, Multimedia Simulations, Courses,
Presentations, Demos, Tutorials, and other types of content
files that realistically duplicate the functionality of
the live Windows environment.
RapidBuilder v3.1 features a variety
of new authoring capabilities designed to expand the power,
flexibility, and scope of the technology. New Print functionality
enables developers to print RapidBuilder files directly to
paper in order to create file printouts for reference and
review. Enhanced support for “Open URL” functionality
in the Hyperlink object means that developers can add a variety
of interactive links for executing JavaScript commands, launching
URLs using various different protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP,
Telnet, or Gopher), launching HTML pages in a new browser
window or the same browser window, and launching e-mail clients. Exclusive
Radio Button functionality (in which the user is able
to select only one radio button from a group of radio buttons)
can now be applied to grouped Hyperlink objects (styled as
Radio Buttons) as well as grouped Radio Button objects. RapidBuilder
v3.1 also includes additional Flash (SWF) support.
A variety of additional object properties are now supported
for exporting to Flash format, and Text Fields/Instruction
Boxes may be exported to Flash as images instead of regular
objects (which will produce smoother, higher-quality text
within the exported Flash file).
RapidBuilder v3.1 Deluxe includes
all of the features and capabilities of RapidBuilder v3.1 along
with several additional deluxe features. The Export to
Word option enables developers to export RapidBuilder
files to Microsoft Word (.DOC) format, which is ideal for
quickly generating user documents and handouts (including
presentations, training material, step-by-step procedures,
etc.) from captured/authored simulation files. RapidBuilder
v3.1 Deluxe also features expanded support for the Sharable
Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) e-learning standards.
The technology now supports SCORM v1.1 (in addition
to SCORM v1.2). By supporting the two most common
versions of SCORM, RapidBuilder v3.1 Deluxe enables
developers to create SCORM courses that will work with almost
any LMS (supporting SCORM v1.1 or v1.2). In addition, RapidBuilder
v3.1 Deluxe supports third-party Sharable Content Objects
(SCOs), meaning that it enables developers to import external
SCOs (created with RapidExam v2.0 Deluxe, Performance
Analyzer v1.0, RapidSVG v1.0 Deluxe, or any third-party
SCORM course-authoring tool) into an authored SCORM course.
This flexibility enables developers to incorporate many different
types of SCOs within a SCORM course.
"XStream strives to provide the powerful
yet easy-to-use product features that users want," says Sunil
K. Sethi, XStream's President and CEO. "The impressive
sets of standard and deluxe features included in RapidBuilder
v3.1 are the latest result of delivering on this commitment."
"In addition to online multimedia content,
document-based content is something that many users are comfortable
with, and therefore it remains an important and essential
part of e-learning," says Mahendra K. Agrawal, XStream's
Vice President of Technology. "This is explicitly recognized
in RapidBuilder v3.1, where the addition of Printing
and Export to Word functionality contributes to an even more
robust e-learning solution."
