XStream Software Announces Release of RapidExam™ v3.0 Deluxe
New RapidExam Authoring Wizard guides the developer through the assessment authoring process and facilitates an intuitive step-by-step workflow.
OTTAWA, Canada, December 8, 2006 - XStream Software Inc., a leading provider of advanced software and services for e-learning, content & assessment authoring, streaming media, learning management, and enterprise communication/collaboration, has announced the release of RapidExam™ v3.0 Deluxe, the latest version of its industry-leading assessment and certification authoring technology.
RapidExam v3.0 Deluxe provides developers with an Assessment Authoring Wizard, which facilitates step-by-step assembly of questions and other components/elements of an assessment. Using a simple series of screens, the intuitive wizard guides the developer through each of the steps involved in creating a new assessment or modifying an existing assessment. The developer has the option to either use the automated wizard or manually perform the authoring/editing using RapidExam’s traditional tools. In addition, an assessment that has been created via the wizard can always be further enhanced and customized using the large variety of drag-and-drop objects, tools, properties, and options available in RapidExam.
"Although RapidExam has already proven itself as a feature-rich yet easy-to-use assessment tool with a low learning curve, the addition of an authoring wizard makes the technology even more user friendly. The wizard acts as effective guide for developers who are unsure how to begin, providing them with a logical step-by-step framework for authoring interactive assessments," says Sunil K. Sethi, XStream Software's President and CEO . "The wizard-based approach available in RapidExam v3.0 Deluxe will be particularly useful in simplifying the authoring experience for first-time users of the technology."
RapidExam v3.0 Deluxe also includes a Results Viewer. This application is used to view the results/scoring data within result (RSL) files. During playback of a RapidExam assessment, an RSL file is generated and its scoring/analysis data is displayed to the student as an online report at the end of the assessment. Using the Results Viewer, a user can also independently access any RSL file (containing a student’s scoring, analysis, and session data for a given assessment) and generate it as an HTML-based report. Each report can be viewed in a browser and saved/archived to disk.
"Previously, assessment results could only be viewed online by students during assessment playback and by authorized administrators generating reports in an LMS environment. However, with the new Results Viewer included in RapidExam v3.0 Deluxe, RSL files can also be independently mined and viewed offline by any user who is equipped with the Results Viewer," comments Dr. Johnson Kuruvila, XStream Software's Vice President of Research and Development . "This mechanism opens up RSL files to offline viewing, providing teachers and managers with on-demand capability for instantly accessing and managing student results."
RapidExam v3.0 Deluxe is scheduled for official release during the week of December 18, 2006. If you have any questions about this release, contact XStream Software at info@xstreamsoftware.com or 613-731-9443.
