SCORM 2004 Compliance Now Featured in RapidBuilder®

E-learning courses developed in RapidBuilder can now be delivered, tracked, and reported through any SCORM 2004-compliant Learning Management System.

OTTAWA, Canada, January 15, 2007 - XStream Software Inc., a leading provider of advanced software and services for e-learning, content & assessment authoring, streaming media, learning management, and enterprise communication/collaboration, today announced a new release of its RapidBuilder simulation and course authoring technology with full SCORM 2004 compliance. RapidBuilder v4.1 Deluxe Release 2 now supports SCORM 2004 (the most current version of SCORM). In addition, RapidBuilder continues its support for the SCORM v1.2 and v1.1 standards (which are still widely used).

Published by the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) project, SCORM is a collection of standards and specifications (adapted from multiple sources) that are used to enable interoperability, accessibility and reusability of web-based learning content. SCORM 2004 is the latest version of this popular learning industry standard.

"SCORM 2004 support strengthens the integration of RapidBuilder content with many of the industry’s most popular learning management systems, which are increasingly adopting SCORM 2004 as the standard of choice," comments Sunil K. Sethi, XStream’s President and CEO.

A major improvement in SCORM 2004 is the support for sequencing definitions. In previous versions of SCORM, no sequencing information could be defined for a content aggregation, meaning that the learner was free to select lessons/learning units in any order, without any restrictions on the number of attempts. However, in SCORM 2004, the developer/author of the SCORM course can specify the order in which the lessons/learning units (SCOs) will be played.

"The ability to create SCORM 2004-compliant content helps to ensure smooth deployment through an LMS, reduces cycle time, and shrinks the total cost of many learning initiatives," adds Dr. Johnson Kuruvila, XStream’s Vice President of Research and Development.
