Portable Data Capture Terminal
WE developed software for a PDCT.
This is an intelligent Bar-code scanner based on 486
processor and running DOS. WE developed software on
this handheld and also on the PC side to take care
of the segregating of goods in our IMAS project as
given below.
PDCT was used to segregate the Personal
Computers being issued from the finished goods stores
to various transport bays in Wipro. The software
developed does the following.
- Downloads the Dispatch / invoice information
along with the serial numbers of the machines from
the ERP system.
- Scans and compares the serial numbers of the machines
issued from the stores with the down loaded information
and gives visual information of the bay to which
the machine needs to be shifted to on its four line
LCD panel. Generates errors when the data does not
match.
- Uploads the collected information backs to the
ERP system for it to generate the invoice.
We are planning to port this software to PalmPilot
based system with Barcode scanner interface.
