| Highlights of RapidBuilder Deluxe v3.1 include: |

- Color Palette - RapidBuilder provides a 256-color palette, which is
used to customize the color of frames and Draw objects. Developers may
also create and save custom color palettes.
- Editing Grid - A dotted grid may be displayed over the frame viewing
area to serve as a visual aid for increasing the developer’s accuracy when placing
and moving objects around on the frame
- Object Grouping - Multiple objects may be clustered into a group in
order to be edited/manipulated as a single object. The common properties
of multiple selected objects may also be accessed in order to set
properties for multiple objects simultaneously.
- RapidBuilder Projects/Courses - Developers may create RapidBuilder
projects, which are essentially courses comprising a series of RapidBuilder
files linked together in an organized, hierarchical structure and
managed/tracked using XStream’s
back-end RapidManager technology. A project consists of a single main project
(.RPR) file, which contains links to individual lesson (.RBX) files. The main
project file (.RPR file), which is at the top of the hierarchy and serves as
the access portal for the course, typically contains a login page for end users
to log in to the course, and a menu page that links to the different lesson (.RBX)
files. Each lesson (.RBX) file contains frames designated as topics and subtopics.
- Bookmarking and Progress Tracking - RapidBuilder provides bookmarking
and progress tracking capabilities for projects. Bookmarking enables
an end user to place a bookmark when he/she leaves the RapidBuilder
project file (which enables the end user to return to the bookmarked
location the next time he/she plays the project file). In addition,
a user’s progress through a registered RapidBuilder
project file can be completely tracked by XStream’s back-end RapidManager
administration tool. Administrators can generate reports against this progress
tracking information.
- Progress Button - Used within a RapidBuilder Project to display a personalized
progress report for the end user currently logged in to the file. Once
an end user successfully logs in to a registered project (.RPR) file,
he/she may click any existing Progress Button to display a personalized
progress report, which is automatically generated from tracking data
stored in the end user's back-end RapidManager database account.
- Automatic Menu Building - RapidBuilder’s Menu Builder builds course menus
automatically by scanning the project and incorporating the index names of all
lessons, topics, and subtopics. Alternatively, the developer may create a custom
menu by adding menu items manually. Menus may be styled as vertical menus (similar
to the Windows Start menu) or as fixed or floating menu bars. For each menu option
provided within the menu, the developer can determine what action will be performed
when the end user selects the menu option during playback. Some examples of actions
include opening web pages, going to another frame in the current file or another
RapidBuilder file, playing external files, etc.
- Course Navigation - RapidBuilder’s Course Navigator effectively organizes
and displays all the lessons, topics, subtopics, and external files for the current
project in a browsable tree structure. It makes it easy to keep track of the
different components of the project.
- Project Themes - Developers may create project themes, which are
prefabricated course templates that may be applied to new projects
in order to define their structure. This saves initial project
development time by enabling the developer to begin with a pre-defined
course shell.
- Screen Templates - RapidBuilder includes a Template Editor, which
is a repository of screen templates that may be used in the
development of RapidBuilder files. It includes a default template
(.TXM) file containing a series of professionally designed template
screens, and it also enables the developer to create new .TXM
files containing his/her own custom template screens.
- Password Protection - RapidBuilder enables developers to assign
passwords to files in order to prevent unauthorized editing.
Once a password has been assigned to a file, the file can
only be subsequently opened in RapidBuilder once the correct password
has been entered.
- Hot Key Customization - Enables developers to customize the
hot keys (i.e., shortcut keys) that will be used to start,
stop, and pause/resume desktop capturing as well as turn
validation capturing on and off.
- Multiple Deployment Options - RapidBuilder files are deployed
via CD-ROM, LAN/WAN, or Web (Internet, Intranet, or Extranet).
Local deployment is accomplished with XStream’s RapidPlayer Runtime player, and Web deployment is accomplished
with RapidPlayer ActiveX (for Internet Explorer) or RapidPlayer Plug-in (for
Netscape).
- Automatic Web Streaming - Automatic streaming capabilities
enable RapidBuilder files to play smoothly even across
slow Internet connections.
- Back-End Administration and Tracking -
RapidBuilder project/course files (in RPR and Flash formats) and SCORM v1.2 courses may be administered and tracked using XStream RapidShare™ Learning Management System (LMS) v1.0, which is XStream's secure, wide-ranging and completely web-based LMS module within the XStream RapidShare hosted web environment and digital workspace. XStream RapidShare LMS works with XStream's RapidBuilder, RapidExam, Performance Analyzer, and RapidGuide technologies. The LMS includes full capabilities for registering, tracking, and reporting on learning content files created with RapidBuilder, RapidExam, Performance Analyzer, and RapidGuide. The LMS module can also schedule, track, and report on Offline Events of all types (such as instructor-led training sessions, meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences, trade shows, etc.), and it provides many other features and capabilities, including e-mail notifications, extensive reporting capabilities, self-registration capabilities, learning paths, course catalogs, prerequisite definitions, bookmarking capabilities, offline exam generation, interface customization, archiving capabilities, 508 compliance, multi-language support, optional communication and collaboration capabilities, and more.
