| | E-Learning Solutions (Content & Assessment Authoring) RapidGuide™ v1.0 Features and Benefits (At a Glance ...) | Highlights of RapidGuide™ v1.0 include: | Page 2 of 3 | - Associated Knowledge Documents (AKDs) – For each topic/subtopic created in RapidGuide, the developer may assign multiple AKDs. These are supplementary documents or files that users may browse and access to obtain additional information or related knowledge about the topic/subtopic. Any type of file or document (including Word documents, text files, HTML files, graphic files, audio files, video files, and virtually any other type of file) may be assigned as an AKD. RapidGuide also provides the following AKD-related features:
- Q&A Documents – In addition to assigning external text files as AKDs, developers may author and edit their own Question and Answer (Q&A) documents using RapidGuide's built-in proprietary text editor.
- Posted Notes – Developers may create and post notes that users can access though a quick view pane.
- Simulations – Multiple .RBX simulations (created with RapidGuide or RapidBuilder) may be assigned as AKDs. In addition, the developer may designate any .RBX simulation as the default “Show Me” simulation (which is launched when the user clicks the Show Me button during playback). By default, the simulation that is generated during desktop capturing for the topic/subtopic is automatically specified as the “Show Me” simulation (demonstrating the same steps as the corresponding “Guide Me” session), but the developer also has the capability of designating an alternative .RBX file as the “Show Me” simulation.
- AKD Search Engine – Users have the capability to conduct keyword searches for AKDs. This search capability is particularly useful when the user is presented with an extensive list of AKDs and needs to quickly find one or more specific AKDs.
- Adding/Editing AKDs During Playback – Authorized users may be provided with the capability of dynamically adding and editing AKDs while accessing a topic or subtopic during playback.
- Add Step-by-Step Guidance Instructions – The developer creates a step-by-step instructional guidance session by adding instructions to each recorded screen/frame in the guidance session (.SES) file. Each frame displays a captured screen snapshot showing the action/step (i.e., mouse click or keystroke action) recorded from the live desktop. During playback of the guidance session, a selected portion of the screen snapshot is displayed to the user along with the corresponding instruction in order to provide the user with a visual aid and context for performing the live step. The developer may add the following types of instructions to each frame:
- Text Instructions – The developer may add text instructions with a customized font style, size, and color. During playback, the text instructions are presented on the live desktop in a sequential, scrollable list. The user navigates through the instructions (by clicking Next and Previous buttons) and performs each live step as directed. Each text instruction is accompanied by a supporting screen snapshot, which effectively illustrates the step to be performed.
- Voice/Audio Instructions – The developer may add voice/audio instructions by recording sound from an available audio device or linking to a selected audio file. During playback, the audio will play automatically for each step, enabling the user to listen to voice-over instructions or other sound as an alternative or supplement to the text instructions. The user also has access to a built-in sound mixer for adjusting the sound levels of the voice/audio instructions.
- Supplementary Details – The developer may also add supplementary details that provide additional information or related knowledge about the step. During playback, the user has the option of viewing the additional details (if available) for each step.
- Multi-Language Support – RapidGuide includes support for multilingual instructions. The developer may add text/audio instructions and details in multiple languages. During playback, the user is allowed to choose his/her preferred language.
