| | E-Learning Solutions (Content & Assessment Authoring) RapidGuide™ v1.0 Features and Benefits (At a Glance ...) | Highlights of RapidGuide™ v1.0 include: | Page 3 of 3 | - Tremendous Flexibility During the Authoring Stage - RapidGuide developers may perform a variety of edit actions to easily customize topics/subtopics and guidance sessions, including the following:
- Cutting/Copying and Pasting topics and subtopics (to reuse topics/ subtopics multiple times).
- Deleting and Renaming topics and subtopics.
- Adding Author Information – For each topic/subtopic created, the developer/author may add his/her signature by recording various items of personal identification information (such as author name, title, department, address, etc.). Users accessing the topic/subtopic during playback may view this information.
- Customizing the Screen Snapshot for Each Step – For each recorded frame/step in the guidance session, the developer may select the portion of the captured screen snapshot that will be displayed with the instruction during playback. For each frame, the area of the screen snapshot showing the recorded mouse click or keystroke action is selected by default, but the developer has the option of selecting any other area of the screen snapshot to be displayed.
- Moving and Resizing the Target Object for Each Step – For each recorded frame/step in the guidance session, the captured screen snapshot includes a Target Object. This is an icon image that marks the exact screen location of the recorded mouse click or text entry action for the step. The developer may adjust the location of the Target Object on the screen by dragging and dropping it onto any other part of the frame area. The developer may also resize the Target Object by clicking and dragging its selection node handles.
- Customizing the Target Object Icon – For each recorded frame/step in the guidance session, the developer may customize the icon (.ICO) image used for the Target Object by selecting from a list of available icon images provided by RapidGuide as well as importing and using external icon (.ICO) images.
- Removing Steps from a Guidance Session – The developer may remove recorded frames/steps from a guidance session, which is useful for quickly eliminating unwanted or unnecessary steps from a session. Once a range of recorded frames/steps has been removed, the developer maintains the capability of restoring the steps at any time.
- Design Tree - RapidGuide's Design Tree effectively organizes and displays all topics and subtopics in a browsable tree structure. It makes it easy to manage and keep track of the RapidGuide content created.
- Branching Instructions – Each topic or subtopic can branch out to multiple guidance sessions each representing different ways to accomplish or complete the task or a portion of the task. Therefore, during playback of a guidance session, the end user may be presented with several different choices representing different paths or "branches" (i.e., alternate methods) that ultimately lead to the completion of the required task. Branching is an extremely powerful feature that allows developers to create flexible guidance sessions that apply to different scenarios and allow users to practice and learn multiple methods of completing the same task.
- Auto Advancing – For each guidance session created, the developer may enable the "Auto Advance" option. If this option is enabled, the navigation between instructions during playback will be automatic instead of manual. Instead of having to manually navigate to each subsequent instruction by clicking the Next button, the user will be automatically taken to the next instruction each time he/she performs a live step (i.e., mouse click or keystroke action) on the screen.
- Multiple Deployment Options - RapidGuide files are deployed via CD-ROM, LAN/WAN, or Web (Internet, Intranet, or Extranet). Local deployment is accomplished with XStream's RapidViewer player, and Web deployment is accomplished with RapidViewer ActiveX (for Internet Explorer) or RapidViewer Plug-in (for Netscape).
- Back-End Administration and Tracking - RapidGuide files may be administered and tracked using XStream RapidShare™ Learning Management System (LMS), which is XStream's secure, wide-ranging and completely web-based LMS module within the XStream RapidShare hosted web environment and digital workspace. XStream RapidShare LMS works with XStream's RapidBuilder, RapidExam, Performance Analyzer, and RapidGuide technologies. The LMS includes full capabilities for registering, tracking, and reporting on learning content files created with RapidBuilder, RapidExam, Performance Analyzer, and RapidGuide. The LMS module can also schedule, track, and report on Offline Events of all types (such as instructor-led training sessions, meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences, trade shows, etc.), and it provides many other features and capabilities, including e-mail notifications, extensive reporting capabilities, self-registration capabilities, learning paths, course catalogs, prerequisite definitions, bookmarking capabilities, offline exam generation, interface customization, archiving capabilities, 508 compliance, multi-language support, optional communication and collaboration capabilities, and more.
