Instructions in "Guide Me" Mode
When the developer records
a task for a topic or subtopic within
RapidGuide, the system generates a Guidance
Session (.SES)
file. During playback, this guidance session
file presents the recorded steps/instructions
in "Guide Me" mode. On the live
desktop, a sequential list of text/audio
instructions is presented to the user.
Displayed with each instruction is a captured
screen snapshot (which serves a visual
aid and provides a context for performing
the step). By browsing through the instructions
and performing each live step as directed,
the user is guided step by step in accomplishing
a task within a live desktop or web application.

Instructions
in “Show
Me” Mode
When the developer records
a task for a topic or subtopic within RapidGuide,
the system also generates a Simulation
(.RBX) file (in addition to the guidance session file).
During playback, this simulation file presents
the recorded steps/instructions in “Show
Me” mode.
The user views a recorded simulation or “movie” of
desktop activity demonstrating how each step
is performed as well as the result of each
step. The simulation may be a hands-on interactive
experience, a hands-free, non-interactive movie,
or contain a combination of interactive and
non-interactive elements.
Edit/Enhance Simulations
with RapidBuilder
The “Show Me” simulation
(.RBX) files generated by RapidGuide may be
edited and enhanced using XStream’s RapidBuilder simulation-authoring technology. RapidGuide
and RapidBuilder are independent software technologies
that can also work together. Although the simulation
files recorded by RapidGuide are ready made
and do not require any editing in order to
be played and used, the developer has the additional
option of automatically loading simulations
into RapidBuilder in order to enhance them
using the large variety of objects, properties,
events, and feature sets provided within RapidBuilder.
